Qantas (QF, Sydney kingford Smith) ) has opened a USD30million (USD27.7million) upgrade to its Brisbane Int'l
MRO facilities. Speaking at the ceremony, Qantas Group Chief Executive
Officer Alan Joyce said the facility is now capable of handling the
airline's B737-400 and B737-800
fleet. "The .. upgrade to the Brisbane facilities includes the
installation of advanced equipment to enable Qantas’ fleet of Boeing 737
aircraft to undergo heavy maintenance in the facility," he said. The
Australian national carrier recently announced plans to close its Melbourne Avalon heavy MRO facility at the end of March 2014 due to the phasing out of its B747- 400 fleet.
