South Sudan Airlines has confirmed that it has ceased operations to the South Sudanese
states of Jonglei, Unity and some parts of Upper Nile state. In a statement, the South Sudanese Civil
Aviation Authority said that for the safety of the passengers and staff
of local commercial flight operators, which include Kush Air (KUH, Juba) and Juba Air (Juba), flights to Bor, Panyagor, Akobo and all other areas under rebel control, had been stopped until further notice. "South
Supreme Airlines is operational in the whole country except areas where
we have been advised by the Civil Aviation Authority", Ayii Duang Ayii,
executive director of the company Said. The three
regions are currently under control of armed forces loyal to the former
vice president, Riek Machar.
